tecton3d
I'm starting to work with sketchup files more (though not my own) and am looking for a robust exporter that will allow me to go from skp to my other software as easily as possible. I recall there being mentioned on here a $50 version that was robust and worked well but can't find it on the web nor the forums... does anyone have a link and/or recommendations? Thanks! Justin Hunt
I have recently been trialing Polytrans. They have a sketchup to max translator that has been really good. jhv
Bugga_Guy
Just buy the pro version of sketchup and use export to 3ds option.
Bugga_Guy
If you are looking for a free alternative you can export the file out as a COLLADA file by saving the file as a kmz file then renaming the extension as a zip file. Open the zip file up it should have the collada file with textures. Get the 3d program blender (free) and open the collada file through blender and then export the file to whatever is available (obj/3ds file) - this process is a pain but its free. tecton3d
thanks for the replies. Justin - what does Polytrans set a man back? I'll have to see how the .skp - blender thing works.
