danb4026
Rather than going thru the millions of IES files out there, I'd like to ask if there are some typical or standard ies file suggestions for spotlights, wallwasher, uniform spherical etc? I have tons of ies files downloaded, but there have to be files that are the "go to's" for interior scenes. An example would be: "I use S3566.ies for all of my general spots" or " I use S5857.ies for all of my wall washers". You get my drift. Also, what is the benefit of vray ies lights vs max photometrics? Thanks!
erickdt
I don't know what this IES file represents in reality but it always yields really nice results in virtual reality (rim shot). I got it from someone here a year or two ago.
Tommy L
Nice_IES does look good, but it has a certain....whats the word....stigma maybe? In the arch-vis community that is. It is everywhere.
danb4026
Eric, thanks. I am going to check that one out and see what I get.
nelpiper
It's going to be very hard to find "standards" for IES files since companies usually design their own. For instance, Lithonia has a ton of IES files (which you can download) and they're all suited for their (Lithonia) light fixtures although you can use them with any geometry. ERCO is the same case but you can also download the 3D models for their light fixtures. So, what I would suggest is that you download the IES viewer here and use its render option to see the web distribution for the IES files. It's free and dead easy to use. Hope it helps. Good luck. danb4026
Nelson, I actually have Erco and Lithonia ies files downloaded. The problem with the files are the lack of descriptive info. I also have a different ies viewer, but thanks for the download link. Even with the ies viewer, one has to sort thru all of the files to see what graph looks most suitable, and that doesn't necessarily mean that it will work the way you want it to in your scene I guess the point of my post was to find out if users have files that they tend to use consistently for specific purposes and could share the IES and use of that ies.
