HalifaxJ
Greetings, I'm wanting to "render" something as a wireframe or "hidden line" similar to what can be done in sketchup (just better quality). I'm working in 3Dsmax 09. Is this possible? J
danb4026
I dont use sketchup so i don't really understand what you mean...but do you want to render wireframe similar to what you see in wireframe in the viewport, or do you want to convert the edges into geometry? MrCAD
I dont think its possible to get the exact look tho..but you can use the single side materials and check the wire button in the materials. ah..just remembered...with the Illustrate plugin its possible to get the hidden results that you need. good luck Meher
jhiler
You can also try using the Ink N' Paint material. You may have to adjust the ink width to get an exact look you want. You can also have it include ambient occlusion if you are using mental ray. If you have a bunch of detail work ink n' paint is not always the best at picking out far details and the ink can become a real thick black line. Or you can also try using the contour shaders, which I tend to have mixed results on.

3D_IC
you can create this look in V-ray using the edgetex v-ray material in the bitmap slot. choose the line colour and thickness. The render settings need to be a high for the lines to come out crisp though.
Neil Woodhouse
Look at Max's Scanline Renderer. There's a box called 'force wireframe' try that.
