Dave Buckley
Is it just me or has the vismasters tip of the week stopped?? I have been to the site and the last tip submitted was 8th April. Its something I look forward to and its a bit of shame if it has been stopped.

Jeff Mottle
It did stop as it was an expense with not enough return. The goal of the TOTW was to get more registrations on the site. All that happened was the same registrations were participating and it cost money for prizes each month. In any event, that's off my plate now. I was let go from VisMasters yesterday due to lack of money to pay my salary. VisMasters will carry on, but without me. So CGA is it now. Unfortunately ad sales are at an all time low and my wife is on maternity leave for a year. Great timing! If anyone wants to talk partnerships, consulting work, or new business opportunities, let me know.

Chad Warner
That really sucks Jeff. Here I am thinking that things are slowly starting to turn around, and then I hear about this.
Devin Johnston
Jeff I'm really sorry, I know what it's like to be laid off especially if your not expecting it and with a wife and new baby at home it couldn't come at a worse time. I know that you don't want to turn CGA into a paid site but have you thought about having some kind of paid portfolio hosting option like CG talk does except more specifically aimed at arch viz? I know that you don't want to turn CGA into a paid site but have you thought about having some kind of paid portfolio hosting option like CG talk does except more specifically aimed at arch viz? Indeed I have and was/am planning on doing that. However my savings which were to go to paying for a 3rd party to develop all of that this year, now has to pay for CGA servers, and my personal bills, so it will not be easy to implement. Looks like I will be programming everything again...sigh. If anyone has some decent programming skills or knows anyone who does and wants to work for pats on the back, let me know. Susan
Jeff I have been away from here for awhile and I was alerted to your situation by your missive from Linked In. So I came nosing around. I am so sorry. If it makes you feel any better, I am the only Google SketchUp Authorized Training Centre in Canada and I have been cancelling classes one after the other all accross Canada. No one is registering. No budget. You can imagine what that does to my budget. You are so talented, ambitious and tireless, I have no doubt at all that something will drop in your lap. Or you will make it happen!
Arnold Sher
..it sort of becoming another thread but... If i may add my two cents worth... I cannot believe the turnaround from 12-18 months ago when things going nuts! All i could think was we need to hire more staff and get additional workstations. At one point we literally ran out of power at our premises and had to get 2X 3 phase to accommodate our render farm as well all the other machines that go with it. Then, somewhere across the world someone did some bad financial mismanagement and Lehman Brothers went down in flames, or was it more like an explosion, and everything followed like a domino effect. Go figure... But to quote Anton who is a manager in our Moscow office: "..we've survived Gulag and Stalin, this is a walk in a park..." So for all of us that would like to good times continue to roll, we need to appreciate how bad it could be! Sorry Jeff about your situation but things will turn around and whenever one door closes another window gets smashed in!
