urgent help required for file recovery

hi all

 

please help me

i was working ona photoshop file in cs4 and i hade used the save button when after 2 mins of saving the power failure made the system shut down. and when i restart and try to open the saved file, in thumbnail it shows the correct file but it opens as a black page. the file size shows fine, thumbnail shows fine but when i open it it opens a black document with just one layer.

 

please help how can i recover my saved file with layers and all.i had saved it properly before the power went off

I think you should probably just start on recreating everything because this sounds like a file that can not be recovered. I would recomend saving as a copy about once an hour of the project you are working on. Something like "Project _ 01.psd, Project _ 02.psd." This way if a file corrupts int he future, you only lose a little work, rather than a lot.

 

After all, hard drive space is cheap. Much cheaper than your hourly rate to recreate this information.

On top of Travis' advise, which is very sound, buy a UPS. Make sure it will run at least your CPU for 10 mins, preferably the monitor as well. If you have a sever or NAS make sure they are on UPS as well AND the network switch.
