mervin_lim23
hi guys i have the same problem in my final rendering. my computer setup is core 2 quad Q9400. 3 gig memory. everytime i attempt to final render my scene. it always crashes. i have plenty of displacement in my scene. i think the solution there is to increase my dynamic memory limit.the question is what value will i put in the dynamic memory limit with 3 gig memory? cheers;)
mervin_lim23
another question is, is there anonther way to minimize my rendering time? my render setup is primary IR and secondary bounce is QMC. QMC value is 16. antiliasing is adaptive QMC and catmul rom. reinhard as clor mapping. all values are 1.0 except burn value which is 1.2. adaptive rQMC image sampler is min 1 and max 4. Irradiance map is min -3 and max 0. hsph is 40 and interp sample is 20. vray rQMC sampler adaptive amount is 0.85. noies threshold is 0.02. min samples is 8. global subdvisin multiplier is 1.0. then my image output wuld be 1000X750. is there a way to minimize my rendering time with this? ilovegooddesign
To speed up your renders you may: 1. adaptive rQMC image sampler is min 1 and max 100. I dont under stand why, but sometimes its faster then min 1, max 4. 2. I think noise threshold is 0.02 is to low, use 0.05. 3. Check light sourses subdivision. If it higher then 16 you can reduce it. 4. Adaptive amount — 1. 5. Try using Light cache instead QMC for secondary bonces. 6. Its very important for rendering speed: clr. thresh, nrm. thresh and dist. thresh in IR map rollout. Hope its help.
ilovegooddesign
2. I think noise threshold is 0.02 is to low, use 0.05. Dont use this advice. I wrong. I always use 0.005. But it increase render time (and image quality).
mervin_lim23
thanks for the help. but stil does anyone know how to fix xp pro to allow programs to use memory up to 2gig.
rishmantrijo
Bro. When rendering using a lot of displacement, try to minimize displacements as possible. Displacements that is clearly & near the camera should be given priority, & those areas that seems to have normal bumping should take its place. Since you cannot tell whether the map is bumped or displaced in the far end areas. This will reduce primarily the render times & RAM resources. When using the dynamic memory limit, that is applicable & works best on vray proxy, the default 400MB means the maximum limit that vray allows for dynamic objects like the vray proxy. During time of rendering, using dynamic mode & not static will greatly reduce your chance of crashing since the dynamic mode executes the rendering & not storing the information in your RAM. Thus is gives more room for your RAM on other usage. Using the static mode will store all the information of the proxy to your RAM & when the maximum limit is met, it will surely crash. Bear in mind, when using proxy, you should not be more or less in hundredths with the dynamic memory limit set. The default 400MB is enough for some scenes, but with scenes that uses more than 400MB of vray proxys will surely increases your render time. Hope this could help. mervin_lim23
thanks alot rishman for the info. ive learned alot thank you. ive changed my second bounce to LC. it helped but still i like the effect if QMC is the second bounce. thanks alot guys. i've attached the house i was working on. ive lessen all the displacements in the scene. Hey man, My turn to jump on your thread!!hehe What you have said has interested me. Im having similar problems, Vray was crashing and I have 12 GB ram. But its not crashing now, rather it is taking a very long time (15hours +), I have a few detailed proxies. How would you set it up? This is what I have now: Dynamic memory limit: 6000MB Default Geometry: Static I have tried other combos: Dynamic memory limit: 8000MB Default Geometry: Auto + Dynamic Could it be possible that I am setting the limit way to high? Mervin, the little tool I used, but dont really need now is called "Instant Memory Cleaner" by Vasilios Freeware, google that and download, easy to use!!! But its a quick fix to a deeper problem, dont rely on it. Its a cheat if you have a deadline. Cheers mate
