markf
The Vray frame buffer will not keep focus. I'm using 3D Studio Design 2010 with latest hotfix, Vray 1.50.SP3a, 64 bit, Win XP I have a dual monitor steup and the Vray frame buffer will not stay on top of any of the other dialog boxes like Render, Material Editor, Map browser, whatever. If I drag the frame buffer to the other monitor where the Max application is open , it disappears behind the Max window. The Vray Frame Buffer will not hold focus on either monitor. It dissapears behind any thing that is in fornt of it. This is making it very hard to work with! Can anyone else verify this problem?
WAcky
There are a buch of people on the chaosgroup forums with this problem. I can't remember if it's fixed and what the fix is... Might be worth having a poke over on the chaosgroup forums...
markf
Thanks James, I have posted the same as a reply to a thread on the Chaos forum. I searched the forum and only find the one thread which I replied to. It seems another person has this trouble but so far as I can see it's just us. Have you seen more mention of this on the Chaos forum? Possibly provide link?
WAcky
Looks like Vlado has given you a good suggestion. I do recall that other had issues that were linked to the Mat editor...
markf
Ok I got the reply from Vlado. If you clear all of the arch-design materials out of the Material Editor the Vray frame buffer holds focus corectly. Weird but workable. Do I understand correctly that the arch - design materials are to be used only with Mental Ray?
WAcky
Well they only just got support with vray in the sp3 patch. So yes they were designed for (scanline? and) Mental Ray. I think anyone who is using Vray should probably be able to create their materials with a VrayMaterial without needing to go to an Arch and Design Material...
