monkeyman905
I have created i sky scrapper with great detail, i have now come unwrapped the model and hit an issue. The model wont unwrap onto the uv co-ordinates even on a 3K map. So what do i do?? do i split it up onto different map channels or make the map size bigger?? Or do something else any points would be great. (please not its just the buildings structure not the windows or detail just purly the wall ect, 29 stories high) thank you. monkeyman905
wont it just lose the detail of the actual texture texture though?? thats if i have to scale it so small?
WAcky
You can do tricks like making multiple uvs occupy the same space when you're unwrapping so they use the same part of the texture... But yes you might want to make more than one texture for the model...
nelpiper
When you manage to make your model fit within the UV space layout, you need a nice texture but not necessarily a huge texture. When you have a complex model and it doesn't fit within the UV space, you can scale down your unwrapped model. Just notice that the smaller your unwrapped model, the bigger must be your texture, otherwise is going to look weird. You don't have to render your model all at once in just one UV. Just render varios UV layouts and apply a sub-object material to your model. Hope it helps. Good luck.
