RevitGary
I dont know where they are coming from. Maybe objects I grab off the web. They are not coming from my autocad file. I have many many layers in my max file. Is there a way to get rid of ALL layers? This sure would make things a lot easier Thanks!!
Crazy Homeless Guy
I often use a script that deletes all empty layers. You could simply create a layer that contains you entourage, and then use the script\pt to delete the empty ones. I think this is the one I use, though I will have to double check when I get to the office. http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/delete-empty-layer-in-the-layer-manager
RevitGary
OK I would like to get rid of ALL layers. If an object is on a layer make it go to "0" maybe.
BrianKitts
just select all the objects in your scene select layer "0" and click on the plus sign in the layer panel. note: that you'll have to open any groups to get their objects to move layers. Then just select all the extra layers and delete them.

Crazy Homeless Guy
OK I would like to get rid of ALL layers. If an object is on a layer make it go to "0" maybe. From a work flow standpoint I would recommend putting all of your entourage on a layer other than 0. I typically have layers called, "+ Entourage" "+ Dosch Cars" "+ Trees" "+ Evergreens" etc... These are my entourage layers. Adding the plus in front of the name keep them above layer 0 in the layer manager, therefore seperating them from the site and architectural elelments of the project. But yes, I misunderstood your original question.
