danb4026
I have a skydome creating reflections and environment in a scene. I simply want to exclude the sidewalk from it's GI. I know that I can use an override material on an object to give off a different GI, but, from what I can tell, it can't effect only one object. Any help? Ricardo Eloy
Are you using radiosity, light tracer, mr, vray...?

Ricardo Eloy
You can exclude an object from being directly lit by a certain light, but you can't choose the GI that light produces (that would be physically impossible, I guess).
BrianKitts
what about using the vray properties of the object to turn down the recieve GI value of just that specific object. I realize that will apply to all GI the object is receiving, my guess is that your sidewalks are blowing out and you just want tone down the amount of light they are getting. And if that's they case another option would be to use Reinhard color mapping to control your burnout.
danb4026
Brian, that's a great idea...I will do that as soon as I am back at my computer. It's more color bleed than being blown out. The color works for everything in the scene except for the sidewalks.
Ricardo Eloy
If the problem is just bleeding, why not use a VRayMtl Override? It allows you to control how the material will bleed.
danb4026
Rick, can't use the vray override material because it would change how all of the other objects are effected as well.
ksampath
check whether this will help go to vray:system in the render dialogue box.... go to objects settings....select the object which you don't want to receive the GI and unselect the "Receive GI" button.
