jinsley
upated model of an existing project... Finally convinced the office to purchase Onyx for me, couldn't get the whole Garden suite, but managed to get them to by me broadleaf and the onyx2max plugin... haven't had alot of time to play with it though. Final render has to be done for next wednesday, hoping to use onyx and replace my Dryad trees over the next few days and re-render the project... should make a nice change! For some reason I thought that Onyx came with the texture maps for the leaves and trunks/ branches, etc... but I don't seem to see them anywhere. Where do you guys typically purchase your textures from?
lindsaylou4
Project looks good! I think you're updates will really ad more interest to the final render. Make sure and post again once you finish! Good luck! I'm curious.. What do most people use for trees/foliage in scenes? The default foliate that comes with max is not the best and also has WAY too many polys! Does one render in the foliage as object or maps on planes or import the images in photoshop. Clearly, I'm blind to this! Thanks for advice! jinsley
To mutch Chromatic aberration, it should be barely visible I agree, I think I am going to ditch it completely as my style isn't typically photorealistic... Added trees and shrubbery using Onyx... I think it helps alot having the proper landscaping to show the city and client... also, here is my latest update... going to add some people and move onto the next view... Tommy L
I really prefer your old style. Those artsy trees and the ghosted people married well.

jinsley
I really prefer your old style. Those artsy trees and the ghosted people married well. haha, thanks Tom... I used to get alot of negative feedback about painting my own trees into the renderings so I told the partners we needed Onyx. Its funny to have someone say they prefer the old style, which I tend to lean towards. Maybe I will mix it up a little more, and experiment with using both and stick solely to the Onyx for landscape sensitive projects to be more accurate. Anyways, here are the finished images... not too happy with the view from the bushes, but a deadline had to be met so...
