Hi, ive been trying to set up a 4K map, just wondering which option in max sets the map to be 4k, is it the bitmap options at the bottom of the uvw edit window or the Render UV template option??

does any 1 have a good link for a tutorial? thanks

Bitmap is the image that gets projected onto the uv corrdianants. Max can generate it or you can assign a bitmap from outside the program.

UV Template is a rendering of the uv layout of the Edit UVWs window. The lines from the polygons-edges-vertices into a bitmap form. Used to photoshop individual textures (above mentioned bitmap) aligned - matched up to the UV map. The UV template is not shown-hidden-turned off-painted over, in photoshop to make the 'used bitmap'

It's a bit convoluted to understand in Max, imho, but universal in all apps.

Hope that's helpful

There are vert-edge-ploy selection options in the uvw unwrap modifier in the edit tab on the right hand side of the default max view. (+) opens to those selctions.

4K is an arbitrary number- a number you determine to suit the level of detial the map will display when rendered. Maybe looking for setting up UVW map tutorials or changing UVW map size might help. Many times the 'little' things get overlooked or are buried in many video tutorials.

I'd give you a screen shot .... don't have access to max right now, sorry

Yea but i was goin 2 use multi map channel options and have spent a gud few hours lying the uv's out, if i try set them up on different levels now then i have to go back down to the edit poly level and that wil knock out all the uv's i have spent ages setting up.

Thanks again
