I'm going to be busy tomorrow so I'm just starting the Photo of the Week thread today. Post a photo, something from this week if you've got it but we're not making a big deal out of that.

So, now for something completely different. I took this photo of a giant baby head outside the MFA on Sunday. I've been going old school lately so I used my Minolta XD11, 19-35mm lens and Arista Premium 100 (AKA Kodak Plus-X). Developed in Rodinal (1:25, 6 min).

Nice tech Claudio, and that one (and the fire house) both turned out much sharper than some of your previous ones in that style ! (He's got his full sizes up at http://www.flickr.com/photos/claudiobranch/3591659306/sizes/o/ for anyone who hasn't been peeking.)

Not much shooting from me this week, though I did take the cammy on a little bike ride on sunday. (got one of those BlackRapid straps, and a clip to tack the strap to the belt-loop = Pics at 18mph.. fun.)

care to share the technique?

Definately...that's why I am a card-carrying CGA member....:)

First off, not a single flash was used or even any reflectors. The scene was lit by only the lights you see in the picture. The image was shot at F/22 with exposures ranging from 5 secs to 30 secs and tonemapped with Photomatix. HDR work sometimes introduces higher noise levels, so I have been using the Noiseware plug-in for that problem. The rest of the image is pretty much what you would call my "style" - high contrast, low color-saturation, a touch of glow in the highlights, and hopefully something somewhat mysterious and mundane at once.

If I showed you the original shot, you would probably find it unremarkable...kind of like running into Angelina Jolie at the laundromat in her sweats and without make-up

Thanks to alot of quality post work shown on CGA, I have been able to study, learn, and apply.

Thanks for the info.

It is quite a modest church that was chosen to host the site of the sculpture. I would have imagined it being placed somewhere with a higher profile.

Regardless, you picture is great and the story behind it makes it all the better. A picture is supposed to be worth a 1000 words, but a few well-written ones never hurt either....;)
