Hi all--

I'm missing the Vray Sun element under the lighting tab as well as QMC rendering option with my version of vray 1.5. Im not sure why this is happening and am wondering if anyone has had this problem? Is there an option I am missing or do I have a corrupt version?

Any help would be great! Thanks!

Windows...vista or XP?

Vray 1.5sp3?

It's got nothing to do with how powerful your pc is but the reason i ask is that some installations can go badly on Vista if you dont right-click when installing and hit "run as administrator"

When you last updated Vray did you download the correct installer as there is both a 64 and 32 bit version for each version of max. You may have accidentally installed the max2009 installed or something...

I would uninstall Vray, triple check you have the correct (and latest) Vray installer, make sure you right-click and hit "run as administrator" when reinstalling, and if none of that works then post on the Chaosgroup forums...

EDIT: With the later version of Vray, QMC is now depricated and the AA options are now DMC or adaptive subdivision. But I'm still not sure about your sun missing...

Windows XP Professional 64bit

Im not finding anything other than Vray version 1.5. It was on the computer as a demo with which i later bought the serial. Maybe this is causing the problem.

Thanks for your help!

I am going to reinstall and see what happens!

If you purchased Vray you should have access to the download section at chaosgroup.com. If not, check with the re-seller from which you purchased the serial.

It means you can login and download free updates that you should have full access to being a paying customer.

Let me add to my previous comment...

If what you had on your computer was a demo version and you later purchased the dongle, you MUST download another version and install it anew.

A demo is a demo is a demo, at least in V-Ray's case. You must install a licensed version on top of it or it will remain a demo.
