MegaPixel
Apperntly there is alot more to smoothing groups then meet the eye. I have the most difficult time with meshs that I create by attaching more then one element and I almost never get a smooth, continuous face. So I try to unify and normalize all normals, then autosmooth the entire mesh to see if that helps. Clicking on individual smooth group numbers doesn't seem to help me much. Can anyone offer some understanding to the whole smooth group concept and how to properly use them? Thanks for your time.
John Dollus
After you attach the elements, weld the vertices together.
Guz
The smoothing groups determines were the faces are smoothed. Foe example, you have a vase in low poly, and you want to apply a smoothed surface only where the neck of vase meets the vase's body. You select those faces and define a number in the smoothing group to these faces. So, if two faces share a common face with the same smoothing group number, they will render as a smoothed surface.
