mervin_lim23
i have a scene here with a noise issue. i just wanna ask how to minimize these black splotches especially in the tv rack. it is suppose to be a green glossy plastic material but if you notice is has many noise in it. i've attached my set-up for you to check what improvement can i make as far as noise is concerned. second issue here is the shadows. i like soft shadows inside but it seems i couldnt get it right so ive attached the shadow parameter as well. pay attention also to the light source. doest it help if i pull away the light source from the object? will it contribute to soften the shadows? plas check my parameters for me to improve especially the noise part problem. thanks. a great tip would be gladly appreciated. Dave Buchhofer
no attachment came through, but first thing to try with any noise issue before getting crazy is to turn up your irradiance map subdivs and interp samples.
mervin_lim23
sorry dave for that. pls check my irradiance map value and interp sample value. my scene is quite dark so pls check if i used the right second bounce(light cache).would it be better if proton map? thanks alot dave. i also like my shadows to be soft but i still cant get the right shadows in my scene. all my shadows are very sharp Edited June 15, 2009 by mervin_lim23 wrong information
mervin_lim23
oh i forgot to tell that i wish to use my first bounce with QMC instead of irradiance map coz i like the result of it but the problem is the noise. but if it will cure the noise issue, maybe i will take it as a consideration. thanks in advance mr dave

andreg
I'd give the linear workflow a try... In color mapping panel, switch from exponential to linear, tick the linear workflow checkbox an put a gamma of 2.2 That'll brighten the scene a little because i find it to be very dark in the shadow areas. But still nice work overall!
