Claudio Branch
I have just started running V-Ray RT and it doesn't seem to support display of Particle Systems. Anybody know if this is correct?
Koper
isn't particles generally created at rendering time? if so then it won't work as the vr rt is just rendering what's capable inside of the viewport. thus no vray proxies and no vray displacement but its only the first release
Claudio Branch
Whether or not Particles are created at rendering time probably depends on the display settings. Sometimes it is useful to display it as geometry. RT is handling all of the rest of the geometry displayed in the viewport, so why not Particle Systems? Who cares if it is the first release! WAcky
On the chaosgroup forums this was brought up a couple of days ago. Koper is correct in saying that because its not viewport geometry, then RT won't pick it up. Vlado suggested using a "mesher" on the particles to turn them into geometry for RT to pick up. I believe he has recognized it as a fix. But Claudio you're right too...Who cares if it is the first release! I'm loving it XD Just need a couple more CPU's
Claudio Branch
I am not sure what a "mesher" is...a Mesher Modifier perhaps? My machine has 16 cores and RT is SICK!
WAcky
I'm very jealous Bring on proxies! A mesher is a compound object. After some quick testing with PFlow, its ok but it doesn't seem to inherit materials and even placement is off which is annoying...
Koper
I actually do care that its the first release, which gives it the opportunity to only improve in future releases - improve from how kick @ss it already is!
Devin Johnston
It doesn't support particles or proxies and a few other things, there's also an issue with RT gamma not matching the VFB so before you hit render you might want to check and see what it's really going to look like. I don't care if it can't inherent materials because I can easily just assign the material needed to the Mesher object. The placement being off is due to the fact that the Mesher transform must have the same coordinates as the Particle System. Just align them and you are in business...sweet. Claudio Branch
RT supports renderable splines...
WAcky
I dont get the gamma issue ppl are having coz it works perfectly for me...
Devin Johnston
Apparently it only affect you if you set up 3D Studio and Vray in a certain way, it has something to do with a linear work flow. However I've tried setting up Max and Vray exactly as Vlado and others have suggested and I can't get the two displays to match. I'm starting to wonder if there is something wrong with my monitor
Claudio Branch
I am noticing that the shadows in the RT viewport are much darker than the final rendered shadows. This is while using standard VRayShadow. The quality of the HDR in the RT viewport is also muddy compared to the the same HDR in the camera viewport. Thoughts?
