I guess it depends on what exactly you want to learn.

For example, there are two sides to lighting, the technical side (actually setting up the lights correctly inside your software) and artistically.

For the technical side there are 100s of books. Have a look on Amazon and read their reviews. This one stuck out at me as I recognised the cover image!! :)

For artistic side, I'd recommend going to a good book store and looking through photography, architectural, interior design, etc, books.

Cheers, Dean

thanks!

did not know the element/daylight/exposure didn't work proper, will keep that in mind, possibly I'll try the Irradiance Particles from the ctrl.studio for this small study/project or why not both

yeah, very nice cover there, has been up at cgtalk me thinks? that book may be good, have read the sister book though, Rendering with mental ray, that was of sorts a disappointment, not bad, but very far from indepht as one might expect from a book solely dedicated to mr rendering

yes, traditional photo/art would probably be what i'm looking for, asking if there might be some "bible"/must read for archi render etc

Cheers!

for traditional art, a good general desk reference would be any of the AIP catalogs:

but for more detailed instruction regarding composition and overall illustration technique (shading/lighting etc), you could add Steve Oles book

"ARCHITECTURAL ILLUSTRATION" VALUE DELINEATION PROCESS:
