danb4026
I was sent some furniture files in the iges format. What do I need to do to convert to max? Edit: It looks like max 2010 can convert itself. It took some time and I had to convert the model to an Editable Poly after conversion, but it works. rmccoy
Polytrans will convert the file formats. polytrans I had a similar situation happen a few months ago. I used the same process you described by just importing it into max and then cleaning it up.
danb4026
Polytrans looks like a nice piece of software, but a bit more than I need. After I imported the file into max, I was able to clean it up and it worked out fine. It comes is a a nurb and is rather combersome, but once it was a poly, it was just fine,
BrianKitts
if this is just one time thing and you're looking to not have to make a purchase to get your model converted..... I had gotten a furniture model from the manufacturer in IGES and tried using the Rhino trial to convert out the file, can't remember what went wrong but I wasn't getting the results.... ended up using some random trial of a program I've never heard of called ironcad. worked like a charm to open up the IGES file, and export it as 3DS for max.
