Michael J. Brown
I don't know if it is a V-Ray issue or a 3dsMax issue. So please forgive the double threads (on both the V-Ray & Max boards). I get this error every now and then. I can't determine what exactly causes it, but it seems to basically currupt my scene and I end up having to drop back to a previously saved scene. The moment I start a render the progress line will read "Preparing tone operator". Then 15 seconds later Max crashes. Has anyone else ever gotten this error? What specifically causes it? WAcky
Try switching to the scanline renderer and back again. Also try switching to the max vfb and back to the vray vfb if the first trick doesn't work...
Dave Buchhofer
watch your ram usage also, check the virtual memory, is the error happening at a certain point?

Well, I ended up just merging the entire scene contents into a new scene and everything's golden. watch your ram usage also, check the virtual memory, is the error happening at a certain point? This is a very light scene on RAM usage and VM. There's no time lag at all of it doing other calcs first, then coming up with the Tone Operator error. The error happens the moment the render button is pressed.
Ben Dauncey
vray dirt is great when used as an elemet then multipled in on a layer in photoshop that way you can control the opacity of the amount of dirt.
