artyvisual
Hi All, Is there an easy possibility to assign different materials on the U V and W side (or (top, bottom, front, back, left and right) of objects that have an box UVW mapping? I mean not manually with a multi sub object and than assign by selecting faces or with an unwrap, but that max automaticly 'recognises' the U V W sides (of course only possible with box shaped /mapped objects) and assigns a material to that side (top, bottom, front, back, left and right). I hope I'm clear... Anyone? Thanks!
Stephen Thomas
You can use a top/bottom material that assigns it dependent on the surface normal and you can set the blend between. I don't think there's a way to do what your after without using a multi/sub-object material though. You should know though that when you create a cube primitive for instance that max automatically assigns matIDs to each face so maybe you could set your material up according to that. artyvisual
thank you. That tip of the top bottom material seems to be working. I want(ed) to apply a 'multiplex' woodboard (see image) texture to an complex geometry, the first test are hope giving...
