YOHKOH
Hi all I cant seem to group imported objects. When I select all and go to group it is greyed out. If i group a single object i can then attach others to it, but this takes ages to do on every object. Is there any way round this??

mfured20
When I have imported things from FormZ they sometimes come in as a frozen layer. Have you double checked that? I have also had issues where they come in, but the color is the exact same gray as the background and I just cant see them. This doesnt quite sound like your issue tho. Good Luck. YOHKOH
Thanks for the replies guys. I dont think I was very clear in my first post. It is not the actual objects which are greyed out but the option to group them in group menu. Very frustrating. Seems to be anyhting that I bring through as a dwg from sketchup
Bruce Hart
Hi, a problem you could be having is that you have component items in Sketchup. These will translate into Instances with invisible Block Headers when you bring them into Max. Group will not work if you select something alone that has an associated block header as far as I know. You could try using the Drawing Link cleanup script that has been mentioned on this forum or make sure that everything is exploded (and purged) before you import into Max. Hope this helps
BrianKitts
what happens if you take the objects you have selected, right click and select "convert to editable mesh" then try to group them.

Hope this helps This was my thoughts also.... I use it frequently on geometry that won't group. It cleans it up, and removes the block/style references. http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/dwg-cleanup .
