Found a brand new magazine at the newsagents yesterday, 3D artist magazine. I've got to say it blows 3d world out of the water. Loads of good relevant detailed tutorials, free files and software. Hope the next issue is as good!

will pick this up at lunch i think.

read the june 2009 3dworld yesterday at lunch. its such crap these days, mostly freeware tutorials and shitty 'specials'

the max 2010 'review' was jokes. autodesk must have paid for that one.

Is it worth $80?

Yea thats in GBP!! It would be like $132 US for a year? Thats a bit much for a magazine imo... Why are all the 3D CG/Vis mags out of the UK and twice as much here, sigh... can't they just email the digital version over to a publisher here and save us the extra cost to ship oversees? idk...

We're a few issues behind in my rural Victorian town, but I picked up Issue 1 last night. It looks like they've published 3 issues now. The News Agent is going to start keeping a copy back for me (same as they do for 3D World). I'll keep getting 3DW just because I have a lot of them and I do get some useful info from them. If 3D Artist continues to be published, I'll consider dropping 3DW but I'll give it a few months.

Thanks for the heads up. It looks like a really good mag!

I had a look for the mag today in a few BIG newsagents on the Gold Coast and had no luck, those types of mags are hard to find at my end of town. When you do find them your 3mths behind anyway unless you want to pay $20+ for the airmail copy .

it's simple...they would have to have two runs of a smaller size, which means they'd have to pay a lot more per printed magazine. then they'd either have to establish employees in the U.S. or give up a huge % of gross sales (around 30%-40%) to have another distribution firm handle the sales and distribution in the U.S.

at their current distribution amounts, it just wouldn't make sense. not until they sell as many magazines as say a 'Time' or 'People'.
