First of all hi to all !!!

I have a question to ask.

I just finish lightning and texturing an interior scene. I am using Mental Ray. For light only using mr Sun/Sky and 2 skyportals, the room is small.

So my question is how to put some picture or HDRI for the outside environment? So i can get a good look from the windows. I cant put it in environment because i already assign mr Physical Sky, so i cant put it there. Any ideas ?

Thanks

Ivan

well i thought about photoshop but i wanted to manage it in 3d, mostly cause i can change the reflectivity of the window based on the contrast outside.

I tried whit a plane outside the window, and i can not see the picture very good, tried with skydome, again same think, also tried with sky light and a map on it, with that i cant even see a little from the map.

anyone have any solution ?

Thanks

Use the Environment/Background Switcher shader.

You can keep your mrPhysical Sky in the Environment slot and place a background image in the background slot.

The background slot will only be used for eyerays, while the map in the environment slot will be used for all lighting calculations, reflections, refractions, etc.

I create a Environment/Background Switcher and i put it as environment map. Inside as background i put the HDRI and in environment i put the mr Physical Sky. And all i get is darker environment from the Physical Sky. How to make this the right way?

Thanks

And all i get is darker environment from the Physical Sky.

Do you mean the background is dark and blah?

The map in the Environment slot will only be what is seen in reflections/GI and such.

The HDR in the Background slot will be what you see as the "sky" in the final image.

Sometimes this will come out black, or nearly so, because the mrPhotographicExposure control is using a physical scale.

Some of the approaches for this include either cranking up the RGB output value of the image, or switching the exposure control to not use a physical scale.
