Tommy L
Hello everyone, I tried updating my graphics driver to the latest version, but my secondary monitor didnt work. Rolled back. XP 64 Nvidia 8800 GT I upgraded from release 182. to 186. Anyone had any similar issues? The reason I tried upgrading is two-fold. 1: When I am running max I have to close max to open another file. 2: Photoshop CS4 is totally slow. Will not allow Open GL? I dont even know if thats a good thing.... Thanks, Any advice much appreciated.
SandmanNinja
Hey... Hmm I have the same OS and same video card. I'm 99% sure I have the latest driver but am not in front of it now to check. I have 2 monitors - ViewSonic 22" - and both work fine. I'll check when I get to the house (~9-11 hours)
jafTwo
I've noticed a problem with the last two releases and have had to back up to 180.48. I use an astronomyam called Starry Night Pro Plus 6.23 which won't run with the last two driver versions. Also, the program OpenGL Extensions Viewer 3 will not complete any of the rendering tests. Both applications OpenGL quite heavily So I'm not sure if you're experiencing the same problems as I am, but I think there was some change in the drivers after 182 that effects x64 systems. Tommy L
Thanks Jerry, Can I ask if you are using either of the programs I mentioned: 3ds Max and PScs4? Thanks, Tom.
jafTwo
No, I use Lightwave 9.6 and PS CS3. I didn't notice a slowdown with PS but I may not be "pushing" PS that hard. I seemed to me that the real heavy OpenGL programs were the ones that O had problems with. I've left quite a few messages about this problem on a few forums but it seems there's not many experiencing this problem (likely) or I'm just unlucky and using a hardware/software combination that isn't widely used (I'm sure the gamer people would get excited if it impacted a popular game!) That said, 3DS Max and CS4 are quite popular, so I would expect a lot of complaints. Maybe it's a combination of motherboard/processor/graphics board. I'm using an ASUS A8N Premium with an AMD 4800+ processor.
