SandmanNinja
Hey Dave, and congrats on 1000 posts! Are you using MS Front Page, or just using the term front page? If you ARE using Front Page (shudder), God Bless Your Soul... Your web hosting company would have to support Front Page Extensions - not all do. You can actually upload your files via Front Page (once you enter the info from your web hosting company). If you're using Plain Jane Vanilla HTML, then it's best to use an FTP program (I use CuteFTP - free or at least demo for a long time) and it works well. Reminds of me Windows Explorer and if you can copy files from one drive to another with Windows Explorer, then you can use CuteFTP. Your web hosting company will tell you what to name the 'main' html file - common names are: index.html, index.htm, index.asp I use a Microsoft Hosting plan, as I know ASP and VBScript, so I can code my own back end code. Web hosting - I use http://www.1and1.com - friendly and quick tech support, very affordable and they have a web interface for uploading files, checking email, etc. They are VERY affordable ( I'm not up on the latest CSS code styles and what-not, but I like tables. I make the table the size I want to support, and go from there. So, if I want my web site to support at least 800x600, then I make a table a little smaller (to take into account web browser tool bars, etc). I put all of my HTML web site code into the table. When I'm through, I just put this above and below the table HTML commands and it will be centered no matter what resolution the end user is using. (code) Hope this helps. Dave Buckley
a little bit technical i have my front page, it has no buttons atm as is just a temporary front page as an image file (i mean front page as in front cover, not ms frontpage ) i also have my domain name, i now want to get that temporary first page online so that when i type my domain adress it appears. It is currently in illustrator while i was designing my layout, i can easily convert to flash or whatever is needed
Tommy L
Pay someone else to do it. Much easier and more economical in the long run. I can recommend some people here in the States (pound is strong against dollar at the mo).
kippu
if its an image then you can just make the .jpg appear .. since it has no buttons, you will have to google a bit to find out the html code , or i can write one down later at night
Crazy Homeless Guy
I agree with Tom, ....if you don't have experience in developing pages, then I would think of alternate ways to get one up. Otherwise you will be learning on the fly, and the results will more than likely not be worth it. Another way to get one up quickly would be to use blogging software, or Simpleviewer. Tommy L
I thought it looked like boobs. But I think everything looks like boobs. If you buy the domain, you can just call any web designer/developer and have them look at the illustrator file. Sounds like a very easy job. SandmanNinja
I can have a look when I get off tonight, if no one else does so before then. The domain name is completely different to the type of web hosting. Think of it as a floating address and the files are stored with the web hosting company. When you sign up with a web hosting company, they want you to give them some techy info that is given to you when you buy your domain name. The web hosting company then plugs that info into their servers and viola! your files are online. nice logo - I thought it was boobs, too.
Dave Buckley
sandman cheers for your help. it can boobs if you want it to be with regards to the illustrator file i managed to get it as one complete object. select all>group together>compound path, that worked. but i'm now struggling with the stroke around the logo. my profile pic is just a quick photoshop rendition. now when trying to do it in vectors in illustrator isn't so easy. the file i have uploaded is the logo in black, i want to recreate it exactly as the photoshop one looks in terms of colours and strokes etc
