huntch3
Hi I know this can be a broad question, but do you have any suggestions for indoor lighting using vray? Ive experimented with using standard, photometric and vray lights, but havent come up with very realistic results....I can acheive great lighting effects for outdoor scenes in vray, but when it comes to the indoor shots, currently im resorting to using standrd omni lights to give some illumination....any thoughts? thanks! also, any books that are good to cover vray lighting indoors? nelpiper
I use photometric lights for all my projects both using vray and mental ray and it all look very realistic. Standard lighting is old school. They don't bounce light back into the atmosphere as photometric does. If you're talking about indoor daylight, vraysun+vray light on the windows is a great combination. If you're talking about indoor night lighting, then photometric is way to go. This link http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/store/product/33/Global-Illumination%3A-Interiors takes you to a pretty good GNOMON DVD training. Hope it helps. Good luck. viv_arun
yes, true ur question needs a session to explain in detail the interior lighting. i can explain on some placement of lights. keep it simple, jus try to replicate real world light source into ur scne. (Eg),...lets say u hv a two windows in ur scne, then u need to place two v ray plane lights witht he arrow facing inwards.(start witha value of 4) then place a target direct light on the top view, make sure u place thm at 45 degree or more with reference to the windows. the angle depends on what kind of shadows u desire to get. start with a value of 1. this is the method i use. give a try mate! cheers!
