ctk111
I applied the vray scatter object to my terrain and I want to apply a mask which will determine where the objects are distributed. I put the mask in the slot, but it isn't working correctly. It's actually not even close. I tested how it was being applied by creating a new material and then applying it to my terrain. It came in backwards and fairly small. Once I applied the UVW modifier (with no gizmo) it came in exactly how I wanted. Any help on how to apply the mask correctly will be helpful. WAcky
Perhaps you can make a new scene with just a simple scatter operation that you're trying to do, or some screengrabs so we can see whats going on. It's hard to help with no visual reference...
ctk111
OK, here are some screen shots. The first is the slot I placed my mask in. The second is my mask. White indicates where trees will be placed and areas with black will have no trees. As I said previously, I was testing how the mask would be placed by creating a new material in the material editor and then applying it to my terrain. In the third screen shot you see the result and it is completely black. However, after applying a uvw modifier to the terrain and not adjusting a thing (I left it planar and did not change the length, width or height of the map) I get the result seen in image four. This is exactly the result I want, but how can I do this with the vray scatter modifier if there is no way to position the mask? I could be wrong, but I'm assuming the mask is being applied the same way my test material (without the uvw modifier) was applied (image 3). If I can't figure out the mask part then I guess I'll use advanced painter. Painter seems simple enough, but I like all the options with scatter. Again, any help is appreciated. WAcky
Sorry I didn't realise you meant the iCube plugin. Why not post a thread at their support forums located here?
