amer abidi
Not working as in not lighting at all? or lighting but not giving the desired effect? Are your exposure settings correct? Posting an image helps.
luckymutt
What have you tried? I have done this successfully with mrPhotographic Exposure control (set to physical units), using photometric lights with an IES file resulting in ~700cd. You could just find an IES file that gives an interesting light spread, then use the multiplier to get the intesity. The pool's shell had an A&D material set to a nice plaster-ish white. The pool water was a single sided. I believe the material started with an A&D preset Water - Reflective, then the diffuse was set to 0.1, refraction set to 0.9, IOR of 1.33. Under Advanced Rendering Options tab, Refraction Max distance set to the pool's depth, color at Max Distance set to a nice light blue.I probably tweaked the settings of the Ocean(lume) shader in the bump. Justin Hunt
Sorry, usually I'd post a direct link but I was away from my usual machine. jhv
luckymutt
Look in the Samples files that come on the Max install disc. Specifically here: Samples\Scenes\Mental Ray\mr.sample.scenes\water.scenes\scenes In the material editor of the file "Autodesk-water_types.max" wou will find 9 variations on water with the A&D shaders.
