videep
Hello Everyone, Well i was just making an interior scene, which is from an autocad file, so that i could get the exact dimesions. But i am facing a serious problem, which is when i place a camera inside the room, I am only able to see a part of the room. So when i try to make changes to the FOV, the view gets more close to perspective, which does not make it look realistic. Please help as i cant change the camera size and changing the lens size would make it look pretty odd or stretched!!. PLEASE HELP
videep
If you see, the room appears to be quiet odd and the chair to be stretched. If I increase the FOV it would stretch more!!!
neil poppleton
try clipping planes on your camera for starters

Stephen Thomas
You are just experiencing the same issues that any interior photographer faces. The solutions are just the same as in the real world: either you use a wider angle lens, which introduces distortion; or you use a panoramic tripod head, which eliminates the stretching but causes straight lines to appear curved; or in some cases you build a fake set allowing you to place the camera further back from the scene, which is the equivalent of the clipping planes method you used. videep
Hey stephen, Well yes you are absolutely right. I just rendered another room where clipping planes mehtod did not work. And I was wondering as to how the visualizers work and show the entire room. And I got the answer from you when you said : "BUILD A FAKE SETUP". ThankYou..!! This is the beauty of a CG Render over real photography, how many photographers would love to be able to move the wall behind them!
videep
Absolutely Right !!! But does fake setup also mean making a setup without the dimensions??

Absolutely Right !!! But does fake setup also mean making a setup without the dimensions?? Actually I was referring to real-world photography. For interiors magazines and furniture shots, or even tv shows for that matter, a lot of the time they are done on a set rather than a four-sided room. In max this equates to either making the room bigger and just focussing your image on a corner of it or moving the camera outside the room and using clipping planes to see through the wall giving the impression of a bigger room. videep
Interesting.... For scaling the whole room up we will need more ram and more memory of graphics card???? i have nvidia GEForce GT9500 1 GB.... But viewport navigation is quiet slow if I scale the room up...! Clanger
just scale the whole room up I don't think that will work, scaling the room up doesn't change any of the proportions so the end result will be the same you'll just have a 40 foot vase that won't quite fit in rather than a 2 foot one. The scene is quite simple for it to be causing slowdown on your machine, any CPU made in the last three years should be able to handle this easily, and your graphics card should be ready for this size of scene. Its not just one room that i have made, but its a complete floor, it has about 1,132,462 polygons......and the viewport navigation slows down... What should I do?? What should I do?? Select all of the high poly objects and props in the scene, right click properties and tick the 'display as box' option.
