davehugh
Anyone know of any tutorials for merging a 3d model with a photo? Or at least tell me what the technical term for it is so I can search google! Also the best method for exporting image to photoshop I believe you can render various elements alpha etc but not sure how. 3ds max and vray. Ricardo Eloy
Google for "camera match". Hundreds of tuts out there. For output formats, I prefer PNG, mainly because of the alpha channel.

What about .tif with alphas, which is best? bit off topic but!! Thanks
davehugh
Thanks for the replies. Another thing I was wondering If I wanted to add a single item to a photo how do handle shadows and lighting. Obviously there will be nothing to cast shadows onto if I create a plane for the shadows to be cast onto it will block out the background. Hope this makes sense. Ricardo Eloy
Dave: You can use max's Matte Shadow. Any tutorial you find will give you a hint on that, too. Stephen: I've always found TIFF too heavy to work with, and PNG is (to me) easier to handle, has a great alpha channel (with different transparency levels in it) and is a lot smaller.
