Expanding a camera plane

Right,

having a little trouble with concepts here - hopefully someone will be able to help me out (if you can understand what I'm on about!)

I've done a main render in Maxwell which has a 'Shift Lens' option for its cameras where you can shift the image without moving the original vanishing point. (The first attached image - original camera pos and vanishing point shown)

I'm now trying to composite a bike shed near to the edge of the image rendered in Form Z, which doesn't have a shift lens capability, meaning that although it would be in full view in my lens-shifted original, it has the edge cropped off in the composite render. (second attached image)

As I can't shift the lens, what I essentially need to do is to expand the rendered area - say triple the image size, covering three times as much of the view in both axis. Only issue is, I'll need to edit the focal length too, but have no idea how much by. Is there a simple multiplier which I could use to work out my new camera angle? Gotta get this done by the end of the day so any responses are appreciated!

I didn't look at your images nor am I familiar with your software. But keep in mind that all lens shifts can be emulated by cropping. In other words, if you set your camera up to get the angle you want, you may end up rendering a MUCH larger image than you want and your subject will be way off center, but then if you crop out only what you need of your subject from that large image, the camera angle should be what you need. (Hope I haven't totally misunderstood your question).

Okay, a little late but I looked at your images and re-read your question and now realize that you already knew that. :)

Indeed - it's a question of how I work out the camera angle based on my existing angle. Got by with Photoshopping the missing bits in the end. Be good to know for future reference though, as I often use the Shift Lens tool.

It does indeed have a panoramic option - would I need to use that, then?!
