3dwannab
Hi all, I have a vast collection of .mat files on my computer, I was wondering from the experience of EXPERIENCED users what way to go about organising the .mat files with the corresponding bitmaps. As you can see I have downloaded them from vray-materails.de with the maps in the same folder as the mat files. and attached is two screenshots of the root folder and the folder within. I mean its all well and good saving the mat files with the corresponding path to the specific bitmap but lets say I change drive letter or move to another computer. Is there a way to save the mats so next time I move computer or drive letter the mat files will be ready to use with the bitmaps already found. Any thoughts masters of 3ds? KIT
I don't have MAX in front of me at the moment (so I can't give you step by step instructions) but you can configure "user folders" for different assets including bitmaps, so that if a scene/material requires a bitmap that was not found, MAX will look for it on those folders. And I think you can use a network folder to share across different seats...
