huntch3
Hi Ive been working on this 86 MB 3dsmax file for about a week now....with no problems whatsoever, even with modifications/saving additions to the file. but then all of a sudden, the file started to crash with the notice "the file will now close, none of your work since your last save was lost". I didnt do any weird boolean or modification to any geometry, just panning around the camera. I had a previous file that i had saved before just incase, and now that one crashes aswell....sometimes the file crashes immediatly after creating a simple geometry, or sometimes i doesnt happen until after a few minutes of working....Im working on my laptop which is maxed out in memory, ive cleaned up my comp and did a defrag last week and still this is happening....do you think the file is permanatly corrupt or is it a comp issue? I know there could be many possible probs, but what do you think? I dont understand why the file was fine for so long, and then all of sudden just crashes. do you think colapsing some geometry would help? Oh and i have much larger files than 86 MB that have had no probs....thanks for you time!
YOHKOH
Try merging everything you want into a brand new scene. I often have this problem if I'm loading in large bitmaps into materials. Try checking your map library. You could also try turning on "display as box" for some of the more complex objects, or try using containers if in Max 2010. Also, disable the view cube. It causes a lot of problems. Hope this helps.
