Macca23
Hi guys, Im re-rendering an older image now i have better skills and ideas. When its building the light cache though its coming out as i like it, then when it renders the image comes out really dark. Im using max and vray, ive got the colour mapping in the settings set to exponential, lighting using vray environment and vray sun with a vray physical camera. Image attached, thanks. Tim Nelson
Uncheck 'exposure' in your camera settings and re-render. If it comes out really bright, then you know its just the exposure settings on your camera that need to be adjusted. If its the same, then its some other problem. Macca23
the image just went brighter but all the textures and everything were just bland, its still not right. I cant understand why? The settings are the same as ive used in other projects.

3D_IC
I would say that your physical camera needs the f-stop changing. Also try changing the ISO. A balance of these two will brighten the image.
Joseph Petrino
Your say your revisiting an old image, so I would think you need to check "Legacy sun/sky/camera models" on the Global switches tab.
Macca23
Hi again guys, none of these responses are working. If i light the scene using a normal camera and a vray light with no decay, its light enough, maybe a little too light, but as soon as i use a vray physical cam and vray sun with environment, it goes dark. Using the physical cam and sun in a different scene it works fine, its just this one?
Tim Nelson
Hard to say really. If its just this one scene thats a problem, I would suggest starting a brand new scene, and merging in everything from the old scene, minus the lights & cameras, & starting new. If you wanted to post a simple Max scene up here I could look at it to try to get to the bottom of it. You could delete most of the geometry in the scene, just leaving a few pieces for testing purposes.
Christ1982
May be worth checking the Gamma/LUT settings, i've just had the same problems myself and found something in the VRAY forums to do with changing the gamma...
