As usual, please post a photo that you took. Usual size restrictions apply.

I got some more slides from California back today. This is from Taylor's Automatic Refresher in Napa. Those are garlic fries in the foreground and they're awesome. I used my Minolta XD11, Kodak E100VS film and... I think Vivitar S1 28-90/2.8 but maybe that's the Rokkor 50/1.4MC.

A pair from inside the corner market on Thursday, d90/35DX @ f1.8. the purple fringing around overbright areas with this lens is definitely a bit painful, but otherwise its amazing for the price/perform

Andy: Garlic fries look quite the tasty!

digging the curves Claudio. and the hdr+orton processing is looking nice, but maybe the softness of the glow feels like it needs to be offset a little by either additional contrast or sharpness to the base layer

On vacation for the week at the beach, here's to hoping for weather nice enough to snag a shot or three :)

Nice dof on those shots Dave and the colors are really lush.

Thanks for the kind remarks and crits. I think I have the contrast pushed about as far as it can go. The shadows are approaching black in some areas. The sharpest area of the shot is in the foreground. The lack of contrast and softness is an attempt to create a bit more depth.

Great shots, as usual. Claudio, nice render, I especially like the bloom and the use of glossiness map on the stone but the bump map on the upper right wall is a bit too strong.

Dave - Are you shooting raw or jpg? The D90 will remove CA when you shoot JPG, but it's not as good at that as Capture NX2 working on raw files - I can eliminate all but the worst out of focus CA from the 35/1.8. Of course, Capture NX2 is almost completely useless if you take more than one photo in any given day, so I rarely use it.

I've been using lightroom mostly, with raw, capture felt so sluggish and a step back from LR that i never got past the trial period. I'll give it a second try for shots that i want to fix up though CA-wise, thanks for the tip.

I used to do raw+jpg, but i find myself spending enough time developing shots as it is (which i find kind of fun so far) that i dont want the extra time to cull out the extra jpgs..
