thomasj
Hi, I have an aerial shot of a building with alot of landscape, I always use jpg's for all my trees / vegetation, how would i go about creating an areial shot with the corresponding trees at such an angle? I really never came across any 3d trees that look realistic..... let me know, thanks
Crazy Homeless Guy
I find it easiest to stick to 3d trees for aerials. Unless you have trees shot from the proper angle, image maps will look flat. You can create some very nice trees with Onyx for this if you spend the time to learn it properly, rather than just using defaults, or throwing a few switches, and hoping for the best. Tom Hamelrijckx
Onyx is nice for this kind of applications indeed; I render them inside Onyx from the desired angle (which doesn't take too much time, and has pretty good results), and stick them to the arch render in photoshop... alexg
If you are facing a very detailed landscape plan with specific species of trees and shrubs, then sticking to jpg would be the best. You just need to hunt the photos that fits. Then it's a big photoshop painting job for those trees. It does need lots of effort. If you need a 3d tree, then Onyx is the best. (if you have the time to tweak it right)

jinsley
Thomas, If the angle is extreme (above 30 degrees or so) I would stick with checking out onyx. It is the best purchase I have made this year. If the aerial is a little lower, you can probably get away with photoshop and some 2d images... check the net and this site for some links... off the top of my mind Vyonx ( http://vyonyx.com/category/down/cutout-trees/ ) I remember Vyonx had some good free resources... or if the look is more npc, you can just paint it in photoshop --> http://www.cgarchitect.com/vb/36288-aerial-view-done-photoshop.html
