Ernest - well, wadda think?
I'm still working on entering all those numbers Maxon sent me--first the temp serial numbers, then the permanent ones.

I have only fired up the program once or twice, click on a few things and ran back to Lightscape.

I am excited about learning the program, but I hate going back to being a rank beginner. I have been SO busy working I have not had any time for 'developement'--maybe in December. I will be done with all projects soon and won't be taking any new ones until I get really poor again (not that it ever takes very long).

OK, first Q: is there any other way to navigate in the viewports besides the little buttons on their titlebars? I am used to selecting a nav command and being able to click anywhere to operate it. It's weird being restricted to clicking those tiny icons.

Thank you for checking in on my progress!

Ernest,

There are three hotkeys that let you navigate the view anywhere in a given window.

Pan: 1+left click

Zoom: 2+left click

Rotate: 3+ left click

Each of these shortcuts can be customized. I know it's intimidating to start learning a new package, but I think you'll find yourself getting up to speed in a hurry. Good luck,

Jack

Actually Ernest, as long as you are using 8.2 or higher, and I asume you are, Cinema can use the common Alt+lm Alt+mm Alt+rm to navigate through the view ports. If that doesnt satisfy you, all commands can have custom key-binds by going to the window menu>>layout>>command manager.

cebas developed both engines, but the two are entirely different. it is cheaper than max, but thats value for you, no indication that the quality is cheaper too!

and after using both for years i find c4d render quality much superior than viz/max imho :)
