Saved image darker than camera window?

I took a look at a lower thread but didn't think it addressed my issue so I'm hoping to get some help on my specific issues.

1. When i render a view it appears to be the correct lighting in the camera display window, but when I save the image and then view it through windows picture viewer for example its much darker. This is using a regular camera and vray lights. Any suggestions?

2. I'm trying to isolate and light a specific block in my drawing by excluding everything else but that block in the vray light properties under Exclude. But the light still seems to be affecting the surrounding surfaces due to reflectance & bounce. Is there any way for me to prevent that and simply increase the brightness of the specific block in question?

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the response.

#1 I had the same thought and viewed it through photoshop but it was the same. I'm at the point that I'm over exposing the scene to get the correct lighting match for the deadline but i need a better solution going forward. The images are being saved as jpg & tiff and both reflect much darker when saved out. Really odd...

#2 I've not made any changes to the environment brightness since adding the light in question so I'm not sure the environment brightness would cause the additional illumination in the rest of the scene. I almost think that the light is only including the specific block but casting reflectance from that specific block back into the rest of the scene? Which I'm trying to not have happen.

I probably should have mentioned that this was Viz before and don't have LUT because if it (correct me if I'm wrong) But under Customize -> Preferences -> Gamma I have

Enable Gamma Correction

Display Gamma 2.2

Bitmap Files Input Gamma 2.2

Bitmap Output Gamma 1.0

Again, seeing as this is 2008 Viz I'm not seeing that option. But if its any consulation you've put me on the right traffic with the gamma settings. I took a previously rendered image into photoready and adjusted the gamma to 1.8 and voila, the image was as it should be.

So me question is this, what should my gamma settings be in settings and what other steps do I have to take in order to get my rendered outputs to display in other programs as they do in Viz?
