3darchitect
I'm using Vray + Sketchup to do some renderings. I've set up a scene where the camera is outdoors looking into a large door way into a room. I'm using a normal Vray Omni light for the sun (because I haven't been able to get the Sketchup Sun/Sky to work properly) and it is working fine. However, the interior of the room, especially the farther corners are very dark (darker than I believe they would be in real life) I thought to put another omni light in the middle of the room, bring the intensity down to give a small amount of light on the interior and turn off the shadows. However, when I turn off the shadows (in the Vray/Sketchup omni light) the whole light turns off. It wont' have the light on without shadows. Has anyone else experienced this problem before? Or is there a better way to get the interior better lit? Thanks! Edited August 12, 2009 by 3darchitect
NOPE
Try to reduce the shadows Dens. (density) to 0.0—and change the color of the shadow to white ..this works in 3ds max ..don`t know about sketchup. Just leave the shadows on ..and change shadow settings color-white dens-0.

Just leave the shadows on ..and change shadow settings color-white dens-0.0 Unfortunately, there is no setting like that (that I'm aware of). In the light settings, under shadows, there are only 3 adjustments: Shadow Bias, Radius and Subdivs. Also, you can only change the color of the light, and not the color of the shadows. NOPE
As I said I don`t know anything about sketchup.. But if there is not any other parameters of the light .. 1. place another light-Vray light near the window pointing in the same direction.. 2.Or post process in CS (Photoshop)

I was thinking about that this morning and will give it a shot. Thanks!
erickdt
I don't know much about what VRay is like in Sketchup but in MAX you could go to the VRay Indirect Illumination rollout and adjust the secondary bounce number upwards (you could also turn up the primary bounce although that would brighten your overall image).
