bluediablito
hello to all. i was hoping for some one to point me or tip me in the right direction. i was walking home and i notice that on a new construction site they had rendering images of the actual new building. these images had existing images of the area with the new building in place (the building was a 3d rendering). i was wondering how can i achieve these views with a real picture and a 3d model put in place? WAcky
This technique is called a "photo-montage" and is achieved with the camera match tools in max. Take a look in the help files for more info. there is a tutorial at evermotion regarding it. Basically it's quite easy to do if you have a site survey supplied from the architect/building designer as you can look at point measurements on your drawings and match them to points in the photograph. It enevitably won't come out perfect so a bit of adjustment in Photoshop or simmilar is usually needed. Sometimes you need to do a bit of cleaning up and erasing in a program like photoshop incase there is an existing building in the photo that is yet to be demolished so some knowledge of PS is a boon.
