monkeyman905
HI, i have created all my spec maps and have realised they is no spec slot in a Vray material. I have look into this and people say to use the HGlossiness as a slot for the spec map but when i do this i get no specular differance at all. Ive tried playing with the setting to the point ive made a cube and place a checjer map onto this and no matter what settings i try i get no speculaity . Can any one help me as to why?? Thank you
Ricardo Eloy
Have you increased the reflection amount? In VRay, materials behave as they do in real life (sort of), so if you want specularity, you need reflection.
monkeyman905
Thanks ive got that working now to a point! Is is still possiable to tell the vray material via a grey scale map as to which point need to be more specular than others like a standard material map? Ricardo Eloy
Yep. The same way you'd do to a standard mat. Just remember that the amount of specularity is set by the amount of reflection, and the way it looks (sharp or glossy) is set by the glossiness.
