Ernest Burden III
That's probably the hardest entourage task. People must fit the chairs properly, be posed convincingly and be dressed appropriately for the restaurant. The perspective will change quickly from front-to-back due to dining room views usually having some foreground tables. Either set up human models to photograph or draw the people yourself. Or you can place 3D models of people, posed and render them out. I did that once, then painted over the results in Photoshop. No matter what, you are looking at extra time and/or money. Always include the 'people option' in a proposal for a restaurant. A few years ago I was doing a cruiseship dining room animation and the client wanted figures. The space seats about 1200 people! I had to change his mind with the cost.

What you can do is purchase some stock images and then pop those people into the direct foreground tables etc. Check out A nice mix of 3D and 2D works well. Check out http://www.istockphoto.com and http://www.dreamstime.com/ where you can purchase single images at decent DPI for a few $ a pop.
cadmunkey
Sherif, I think 2D silhouettes maybe an option for you on a restaurant project. Ernests' post explains very well why entourage in this case is tough going.

GordonHo
this is a tough one.i personally don't like the dosch people, they're all looking .. well guess the best thing is to use few foreground people and fill the remaining places with 3d persons like BVI said. im not sure if they've something fitting in, but epictor sells very high quality entourage people, and i know that they do sell single images as well as sitting & lying people, though i couldn't find some restaurant bundle there. well, post some results! cheers, gordon
