Devin Johnston
Is anyone using this program, I'm working my way through the tutorials and can't figure out how to set up a coordinate system. The tutorials are very vague, they don't really give enough information on how they are doing it. I also find it strange that they don't have the automatic coordinate system set up to work with Max. rmccoy
I was just reading about this software. is it available for Max or is it supposed to be a Maya only thing?
Devin Johnston
It's free if your a subscription member and it's stand alone so there are no direct ties to Max or Maya which is part of the problem. It's either so new that there are not tutorials available for it beyond the ones it comes with or it just sucks so bad no one will use it.
JonRashid
There are tutorials on the Autodesk web site. http://download.autodesk.com/us/maya/MayaMatchMoverOnlineHelp/index.html?url=WS1a9193826455f5ff-e569a012180ce5891-2171.htm,topicNumber=d0e92 are included in the user guide. It seems pretty straightforward you can use a variety of ways to define points to track on your raw footage and camera data is generated from the solution it produces. This data can then be used in your animation software. It seems to export to all major packages. a bit like max's camera match utility. In fact this looks very much like the module to do the same thing in the combustion suite. If so it is an excellent piece of software that is based on a system used in some of the top post-production houses. Devin Johnston
I've done all the tutorials and for the most part they are straightforward however the section on creating a coordinate system is extremity poor. Specifically I need to know how to change the orientation so that XY&Z axis are properly oriented in Max.
