Hello and issue with adding a new hatch pattern

Are you asking where to save custom patterns, or how to create custom patterns?

If you have patterns that you want to use, you can save them anywhere on your computer. You just need to create a new Search Path so Autocad knows where to find them.

Go to OPTIONS, switch to the "Files" tab, click on "Support File Search Path" and then click the "Add" button. Now browse to the folder where you have your Hatch Patterns saved.

It's a pattern sent to me by an architect on a job which is custom. I right-clicked it and itr came up as a *.pat but I am wondering how I can save it in my files so I can finish a new drawing using their patterns. Any further assistance would be appreciated. Thanks

Like I said in my previous reply, just create a folder somewhere on your computer and put the .pat file in it. Then open Autocad and create a new Search Path.

Go to OPTIONS, switch to the "Files" tab, click on "Support File Search Path" and then click the "Add" button. Now browse to the folder where you have your Hatch Pattern saved.

Once you have the search path set, you can stick any custom hatch patterns in that folder you created, and they will show up in your Hatch dialog so you can use them.

Understood. My main thing is to get that particular file out of the drawing and set it up as you said. I don't know if it is block or something I can just write to a file. I'll test it tomorrow and let you know how I make out.

the name of that hatch pattern file will appear definitely on the list of your hatc paater image samples once it was loaded... if no success, theres another option... but the simplest one is stated above... try it first and good luck
