innerdream
I was sent a .fbx file (model) exported from Revit to give a bid, I use Modo and also have Cheetah 3D and neither program can open the file for some reason. If I sent someone the file could you try to open it in 3D Studio Max and export as .3ds or .obj for me? Thank you.
Crazy Homeless Guy
Autodesk makes a free FBX converter that might help you out.

innerdream
Thank you I'll take a look. Looks like it's for turning into .fbx. The Autodesk® FBX® SDK is a free, easy-to-use, C++ software development platform and API toolkit that allows application and content vendors to transfer existing content into the FBX format with minimal effort. Crazy Homeless Guy
It also converts a FBX to 3ds, DWG, OBJ, or COLLADA.
innerdream
It also converts a FBX to 3ds, DWG, OBJ, or COLLADA. Ahh good, it's 375 MB's to download I didn't want to waste my time. Thanks again.
Crazy Homeless Guy
Not sure, but that sounds more complex than what I rememeber. Are you launching the UI version, or trying to accomplish it from command line?

Are you launching the UI version, or trying to accomplish it from command line? I had the wrong download, I got it now. It didn't want to install on my Mac but I got it installed on the PC but it crashed on everything but .3ds format - no materials came through assigned unfortunately. Anyhow, I opened the file and it's enough to give them a bid so thank you.
