Angled and irregular shaped walls in ACA 2010

Hi.

I have a couple of problems modeling our latest project, and I really need to figure out how to create a walls that are angled/sloped/canted (which is the better term?) and walls that are not rectangular in elevation. I would also like these walls to meet up and join neatly.

Using the Architectural objects, how can I:

- create a wall that is sloping/angled?

- create a wall that joins with this sloping wall, in effect, this wall will then not be rectangular?

Cheers,

Eirik

depends first of all on whether you want/need solids or surfaces.

if you want to work with solids, then you can create simple primitives (boxes) and use editing tools like slice or grips to angle the walls where necessary. you could also create polyline profiles in plan and LOFT into the resultant shape.

using surface modeling techniques, you could create 3d faces for the sloping walls.

it's hard to say without seeing the building design and knowing the level of detail/complexity.

btw, autocad 2010 has a number of new modeling features that are meant to help create more unusual, organic forms....haven't got my head around them yet myself !

Hi, and thanks for your reply.

I have managed to model the building with extruded 3D solids, which can be converted to mass elements and then wall elements, but the problem with this approach is that the final wall is not editable via properties. It does not act as a wall created with the architectural objects.

What I want is to create slanted walls with the architectural objects (Wall tool) and make it join the other walls neatly. I can't figure out how to do this.

Any tips?
