Ernest Burden III
I don't love all the renderings shown, but this opening shot is fabulous! Anyone know who did these so we can give proper credit for the artists? erickdt
A sort of unrelated question: What is the name of that building on the bottom left? The one with the twisted window mullions?

Koper
Erick, It looks like it goes by a few names http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/30_St_Mary_Axe and they don't even list them all in the wiki

Magnus_Alexander
I know that building is often referred to by the locals as "the gurken"

Ernest Burden III
I know that building is often referred to by the locals as "the gurken" Oh, I thought it was The Pickle, or maybe The Cucumber, couldn't remember when I read that question. A gherkin is actually a little pickle. Not very flattering, if you think about it. I am not in love with The Shard as a design, just some of the renderings. The building lacks resolution where it meets the ground. The rest is good, though.
mohinder
the internals are terrible though. Apart from some extreme perspectives they really don't look half bad to me. Some are even quite nice especially the intergation of people. Far from terrible anyway!
Koper
Hey I just remembered that Uniform had a video of 'The Shard' in the 3d awards this year. At the end of the video the air plain lights on top of the building was beeping (kind of communicating) with another building there in London. so maybe the images were done by Uniform?? Do we have the 3d awards animations still online here?
Koper
did a quick google and came up with this http://simoncpage.co.uk/blog/2008/10/28/uniform-the-shard-london-bridge-cgi/
rmccoy
I thought it could have been them earlier. I went to their website but they didn't have anything on there about "The Shard"
Koper
gr8 animation as well, simple elegant, and leaving you wanting more. Could have been the intro sequence to a gr8 movie. Uniform haven't really updated their website in a long time
illegalalieninbeijing
A sort of unrelated question: What is the name of that building on the bottom left? The one with the twisted window mullions? Designed by Sir norman Foster and completed in 2004, It is officially called 30 ST. MARY AXE but the locals refer to it as the Erotic Gherkin. Iain Denby
I don't love all the renderings shown, but this opening shot is fabulous! Anyone know who did these so we can give proper credit for the artists? EDIT: Art by Uniform http://www.inhabitat.com/2009/08/26/renzo-pianos-shard-skyscraper-will-tower-over-london/ A dramatic image for sure, but is it me or does the eye level match look out? It appears that the eye level of the Shard is much lower than that of the background image. perhaps it's just an illusion caused by the pattern of window lights?
