Justin Hunt
Those horizontal elements have alot of potential for some fun with shadows and lighting, right not the 12 noon sun angle is hurting rather than helping. jhv
Stan Zaslavsky
thanks Justin - i'll try to move the sun around a bit to work out what's the best angle. i'm having trouble with perforated steel mesh that's meant to be sitting in between the wavy channels - how would you make it darker and more dense and stand out? cheers,
Stan Zaslavsky
here is an update with a different sun angle - thanks justin for the tip. its a lot more interesting (maybe even too much) with all the shadows going on the facade. hope the clients like it
AJLynn
Seems a bit dark. Have a look at your GI/FG. Also, what's the sky? Your windows should be reflecting it more.
kippu
dont you find the glass tooo dark ? if it can reflect the env instead of absorping it , that will look better
Stan Zaslavsky
hi maria, i'm working on exactly that - i think this is now photoshop mastery - so any tips would be really welcome. see an update

WAcky
The tree thats sitting on the top right of your image isn't casting any shadows. I'm aware this is a 2d element but considering it's position it should probably throw some shadows across the grassed area. Now that I look at it, it looks out of scale. Some DOF might help but looking at the man in the scene, it really doesn't match up... You might want to try some glare on that glass cylinder to create a big point of interest. Look up the glare shader for max. You can render it as a seperate pass in max so you can control it easily in post. Try converting the people in the image to "invisible to camera" so you keep the shadow. I would insert the entourage in post so you have a lot more control over them. Try adding a little bit of motion blur with the correct angle and see if you like the result. Keep it up!
Stan Zaslavsky
good pick up on the tree in top right - i'll work on that one. the people are already done in photoshop - i'll try the motion blur - thats a great idea too. i think i can get the glare happening in PS as well - will probably have more control over it thanks again for your comments

wasteland giant
get a better car - looks distorted. or change camera POV to eye level? use a reflection plane. left hand side - garage? Strange looking. Brighten the area. what's the wall material?
Stan Zaslavsky
thanks Gurjeet - it took a bit of work. here is a final photoshopped version
Horhe
The latest image is looking very nice Stan. One of your best images yet The trees in the horizon that are reflecting in the glass are tiling, but thats no biggie. Seems like its 'wrap up and send off' time with this one. Stan Zaslavsky
thanks Jakub - i really appreciate the compliment - it took me a little while of constantly improving to get to this stage. it would be incredible to achieve the kind of mastery you have with your images - i guess one step at the time. it sure is time to wrap up and send off this one. with the next one i can look into lighting up other areas and using different cars - thanks Roberts for your comments. all the best and thanks again for all your help cheers,
