Wayneski123
Hi All, I really want to be able to transform my 2D CAD drawings into 3D photo realistic models of my finished house / extension / building etc. Currently i am only capable of doing this in Sketchup which isnt where i want to be. Can anybody help or point me to somebody who could teach me how to produce 3D models from my scaled autocad plans and elevations with finished materials, lighting etc. I now the very basics of 3ds max but thats about it. If you think you can help please contact me. Thanks Wayne
sdds
hi Wayne, well a good start would be looking into the tutorials on here by Brian http://www.cgarchitect.com/upclose/VI/default.asp Read up extensively on your render engine of choice, vray/ mental ray etc.. The processes you need to know are how to clean/import your dwg's into max, basic modeling and texturing. Post work with photoshop, basic colour/ masking skills. As for creating a photo-realistic render... well it differs from image to image, a basic understanding of artistic composition is very important. There is no push a button approach to creating a good image.
